Biofilm inhibition assay. Standardized overnight cultures of S. mutans strains (n = 10) were grown on MBEC pegs incubated with 0.2 mg/mL EGCG in the presence or absence of 80 μg/mL LL-37 for 12, 24, or 36 h at 37 °C. Adherent cells were then fixed with ethanol, stained with crystal violet, eluted with ethanol, and the absorbance was measured.
