Optode imaging system. The imaging system consisted of a camera fitted with a 25 mm objective and mounted on a movable stage to adjust focus on to the opening at the top. The biofilm growth chambers were placed on the circular opening at the top and covered to eliminate ambient light during imaging. Strobe lights (455 nm LEDs) for fluorescence excitation were installed beside the imager.
