Smad-3 Western of gingival fibroblasts exposed to milk. Serum-starved gingival fibroblasts were exposed to 5% of an aqueous fraction of human milk (HM) with and without 10 µM SB431542, 10 µM LY2157299 and 40 µM D609 for 30 min before being subjected to Western blot analysis of phosphorylation of Smad-3. Cells exposed to human milk (HM) caused a strong increase in the phosphorylation of Smad-3 which was blocked by SB431542, LY2157299 but not by D609. ”wo” stands for without, indicating the unstimulated cells
