Figure 3A shows the odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for the estimates for mental health (MH) days in the past 30 days from Model 1, where the dependent variable (DV) was most recent dental visit longer than one year ago. Figure 3B shows the ORS and 95% CIs for the estimates for MH days from Model 2. Figures 3A and B show that while there is a clear direct dose–response relationship between number of MH days and odds of delayed dental visit, the relationship between number of MH days and having lost six or more teeth is not straightforward. The association is not as strong, and only is significant in the top two quartiles of MH days. By contrast, as shown in Figs. 3C and D, age had a strong inverse dose–response relationship on odds of delayed dental visit from Model 1, while it had an extremely strong direct dose–response relationship with odds of having lost six or more teeth, with the magnitude of association increasing by over tenfold for the top two age groups
