The clinical crown length (CCL) of the anterior teeth in the upper and lower jaw was measured with a dental Beerendonk sliding caliper by measuring from the middle edge margin of the buccal gingiva at its base to the incisal edge. The clinical investigation of the width of attached gingiva (WAG) was performed by inserting a UNC-15 periodontalWHO probe in the middle part of the buccal surface into the gingival sulcus until firm resistance was felt. The distance was than measured between the gingival edge margin and the base of the sulcus
