The hypothesized association between number of remaining teeth and depression, including the confounders. Demographics included sex and age. Stressful events at follow up included one of these conditions after baseline: 1-divorce or separation, 2- job loss or retirement. 3- business failure, 4- violent event 5- major family problem, 6- recent health problem or accident, 7- death of spouse or partner, 8- illness or death of close relative, and 9- other major stress situation.
