Publication charges for this supplement were funded by Colgate Palmolive. The articles have been through the journal's standard peer review process for supplements. Supplement Editor competing interests: Prof Pretty receives an unrestricted grant from Colgate Palmolive that provides salary costs via the University of Manchester. Prof Pretty has stock holdings via collective managed funds that will include key multinationals who produce and market oral health products. He received funding to attend the conference.
